The first award under the terms of the James Langley Memorial Trust (JLMT) was presented at the Midland Youth Orchestra's 40th Anniversary Gala Concert in Symphony Hall, Birmingham, in 1996.
Since then, there have been over 75 awards covering a diverse range of assistance from instrument purchases to tuition fees and support for attending music college.

It’s a great privilege to be part of the CBSO Youth Orchestra, and to receive an award from the JLMT for lessons as I apply to residential music colleges for the sixth form. It will be incredibly helpful, and I’m very grateful to the JLMT for furthering my musical ambitions.
